What does the specification
look like.
We have provided a
draft specification based on the work we
(Faraday Media) have been doing for our own projects. We are
happy for this draft to act as a foundation for
the final APML specification, or we can always
start from scratch. The
community will decide.
If you think you or someone
you know should be involved, be sure to contact
us!
Why don't you do this in
OPML?
We love OPML. In fact, we
sometimes call APML the 'OPML of Attention'.
However, OPML is, by its very nature, extremely
generic. This means that when you want to do
algorithmic processing on the data (as you do
with many Attention-based applications) OPML can
be quite costly. Also, we plan on broadening
APML beyond an outline of interests.
That being said - we'd love to
be proven wrong. Join the forums and argue your
case.
Why do we need another
format - what about Attention.XML?
While Attention.XML stores
your Attention Data (a complete history of where
you've been and what you've done), APML proposes
to boil that information down to a list of
implied interests. This means that Attention.XML
and APML complement each other much like RSS and
OPML complement each other.
Where can I get some source
code? You can get
the open source libraries to open and manipulate
APML at the
Google Code repository.
